Great mountain club with DJ. Whether you’re visiting in the peak of ski season or during a lush alpine summer, the Steinbockalm (at 1,634m) stands out as one of the most sophisticated mountain huts in the Hochkönig region. It perfectly balances the rustic charm of the Pinzgau mountains with a chic, modern lounge vibe. Here is a review based on its current highlights and reputation: Steinbockalm: A Masterclass in Alpine Lifestyle The Atmosphere: Rustic Meets Modern The Steinbockalm is unique for its architectural design. It consists of two traditional, rustic wooden huts connected by a contemporary, glass-fronted bar and lounge area. This layout allows you to choose your own adventure: stay cozy by the fireplace in the "Stuben" with creaking floorboards, or enjoy the "Schibiza" (Ski-Ibiza) vibes in the light-flooded modern section. The Views: 360° Open-Air Cinema The absolute showstopper is the 360-degree panorama terrace. It offers an uninterrupted view of the massive Hochkönig rock face. In the winter, it’s the ultimate spot for an upscale après-ski; in the summer, it serves as a peaceful "sun-trap" for hikers. The Culinary Experience Unlike standard mountain huts that only offer basic bratwurst and fries, the kitchen here has a "cosmopolitan touch." • Traditional Staples: Their Kaiserschmarrn and Wiener Schnitzel are consistently rated as some of the best in the area. • Signature Dishes: Look for "Tom’s Fish Soup" or "Gitti’s Moosbeernocken" (blueberry pancakes) during the summer. • Refined Touches: They pride themselves on using local herbs and offer an impressive wine list that rivals fine-dining restaurants in the valley. Events & Vibes If you’re there on a Saturday (like today!), the Steinbockalm often hosts live DJs or themed events like "Schibiza." It’s the place to be if you want high-energy music and a stylish crowd, though it can get quite busy during these peak times

Great restaurant on top of the mountain with magnificent view. The interior is a mix of modern and traditional architecture. There's lots of space, small areas for a few people as well. Food is regional and mostly fresh, some of the dishes use premade ingredients though. Prices are high as usual for eateries on higher altitudes, especially since it's located within a ski resort as well. Staff was friendly, service quick, everything clean.

4th time visiting this restaurant this week. One of the best restaurants on the planet. Food comes faster than you can eat it and it's top notch. Staff are 11/10 thank you.

Location, location, location. The location of this restaurant is too great that the food/beverage quality is irrelevant. I can't quite recall what I ate, but everything tasted great.

Today we had a Wiener Schnitzel, Rösti (Hash browns) with Bergkäse, and Skiwasser (water mixed with Raspberry and lemon syrup). The food was really delicious and I can definitely recommend to eat there. The amazing food comes with a great view - lucky us we had a clear blue sky.

My friend and I went up here for lunch and to watch a live band play. It's up on the mountain, right off the lift, so it's really convenient for getting some food and drink while hitting the slopes. The food was good and the staff were quick for how busy it was. The live music was awesome, but if you're going for that get there about an hour early because the place fills up fast. You can't beat the views too!

A really beautiful view while having a drink. There's also a tiny chapel, which must have one of the best outlooks in the world.
